Inside Eddie Murphy's home: $12 million hotel-like palatial house in New Jersey (and by the way, he's not dead)

Is it just me, or does Eddie Murphy's mansion in New Jersey really look like a hotel?

He recently sold this house in Englewood for $12 million, well below the original asking price of $30 million back in the heady day of 2004 but still significantly more than the $3.5 million he paid for it in 1985 (though he more than doubled the living space by adding a big extension).

The stately living room of Eddie Murphy's home in cream and gold damask and velvety upholstering, and original wooden floor.

One of the seven bedrooms of Eddie Murphy's home. We think it looks exquisite with its selective ornaments, and is probably the best room in the mansion.

The house has indoor and outdoor pools

This is why we think it looks like a hotel. Isn't it like a hair salon within a smart hotel?

The mansion has its own bridge, not sure what it links to.

One of the bedrooms, this one probably is on the top floor

A dedicated play room for the kids.

We originally wanted to put it under Editor's Picks, but we realized we only like the first two pictures, sorry Eddie.
